How many foreigners (in all categories) obtained US lawful permanent residence in 2008?
In 2008, 1,107,126 foreign nationals became lawful permanent residents (LPRs) (also known as green-card holders) according to the Department of Homeland Security's Yearbook of Immigration Statistics 2008. The total number represents a 5.2 percent increase from 2007 (1,052,415) and a 31.6 percent increase from 2000 (841,002).

The H1-B per se does not require any job experience, provided the educational qualification is exactly what the job requires. To quote, "For an H1B for a programmer, for example, a candidate must possess the required degree in the field of computer science, electrical engineering, electronics, or a related field." When the candidate has a degree in an unrelated field, the employer would usually need to prove that the candidate has work experience in the field in which the H1 is being sought.

If your name is coorect in EAD, then you should go to SSN office and
explain them , and if required re apply. You will get it changed. Remember SSN is going to be stuck to your lifetime. Hence better do the correct thing.

Hi,
I got an email from a reporter at the Seattle Business Magazine who is writing an article on the lack of Immigration reform in the United States and how that is adversely affecting innovation and job creation.
The magazine in question is definitely not a major publication, however I think its important to highlight our case wherever possible.
Is there a 'Media Kit' on the lines of "meet your lawmaker kit' ? I looked at the "contact media" link on the home page but could not find anything.
I would be grateful if someone can point me to the relevant material, or if someone is willing to share their experience in talking to the media.

You will have to open a service request (SR) with USCIS after 30 days have passed. Once you open a SR , usually service center will people will call and confirm about the current status and in about 45 days from SR open date they will try resolve the issue. If 45 days have passed, then you will have to take an infopass appointment figure out. Hope this helps!

Thanks FactoryMan. I had a similar question. My thought is that if the spouse is a dependent, then it shouldn't matter what status s/he is, as long is it is legal.
The next question is, suppose we apply for EAD, but the spouse's current student status expires before receiving the EAD, do they fall out of status?

No problem, because of the work NSC are transferring some cases to Texas. In fact, Texas center is issuing EAD and AP so fast. so your wife will get her EAD very soon.

My 140 was denied based on the filing was Eb2 but job requirement only fits in eb3.
I filed my appeal with a new 140 on the same labor in Eb3, and in my Motion to Reopen specified to consider my old application in eb3 but if they will not to atleast consider my new application. This was an year back and I have filed premium, my new 140 was approved in 3 days, old one went AAO, but we withdrew the old one.
Talk to a good attorney, I consulted Aron Finkelstein in Murthy law firm. They were nominal and excellent customer support.

to leave to india in jan she dont have stamp in her
passport
if we apply now for the conversion of H1 to H4 can
she leave to india now and can i send that approval
letter to india then she goes to stamping in india.
is it possible. please suggest me
She can stay as "Pending AOS" and work on EAD. If you are worried about
keeping H status also. You can keep ur H1 if your primary. If anything happens bad with your GC , she can go out and come back on H4. Just switch her to EAD , get a job.
